About
Hi, I’m Butterbear! I embody the warm and fuzzy feelings of home and comfort. I love to spread good vibes like butter on a biscuit, and you can often find me going on long walks with my syrup dog, Sticky. Staying active is a healthy way to cope with mental health struggles and stress, so I launched this brand to promote an athletic lifestyle for everyone.
After the pandemic, because we were all isolated for so long, I felt the world could use a little mending and community, so I created Butterbear to bring people together again through activity and positivity.
Butterbear is a unique alternative to the boring, corporate look of other athleisure brands and aims to provide environmentally conscious products opposed to fast fashion sites.
I’m Butterbear…are you?
Who is behind Butterbear?
Hi! My name is Hamilton Nichols and I was born and raised in Prospect, Kentucky before I ventured to Nashville, Tennessee for college. I am a senior at Belmont University, majoring in Design Communications (Graphic Design). Butterbear is a way for me to combine my creative pursuits with a practical product that meets a need. Growing up, my dad would make me breakfast…which used to always be pancakes. And in my family, regardless of what’s cooking, we don’t use oil to grease the pans…we use butter. And lots of it!
I have been involved in sports all my life, and after trying serval, I landed on tennis and Taekwondo when I was just four years old. So, I’ve spent a good portion of my life in athleisure clothing. I earned my black belt at seven years old, and went on to earn my second degree, as well as my kukkiwon world certification before choosing to pursue tennis full time in middle school. I played tennis competitively through high school and was ranked 8th in the state at one point. I also love kickboxing, and playing football and volleyball. To this day I love working out, staying active in general, and I’m down to try pretty much anything!

Frequently Asked Questions
How often do new drops come out?
We are currently working on new characters and a kids' line. Join our mailing list below to be the first to hear about it!
When did Butterbear start?
I launched Butterbear at 20 years in December 2022. After the pandemic, because we were all isolated for so long, I felt the world could use a little mending and community, so I created Butterbear to bring people together again through activity and positivity.
How are Butterbear products made?
Currently, I design all products through Printful, and they are made-to-order. This means that there is no inventory sitting around in a warehouse to avoid waste. Only once you purchase a product through my website, the order is processed and made. The blank products are sourced from other countries, and then the design is printed, embroidered, or sewn at one of Printful’s fulfillment centers.
